PUBLIC NOTICE
MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
FISHERIES SERVICE
MARYLAND TAUTOG PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING

Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Fisheries Service will hold a public informational meeting on management of tautog. We will discuss current knowledge of the stock and recreational and commercial fishery management options. Addendum V to the Atlantic States Marine Fishery Commission’s Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Tautog calls for a reduction in the fishing mortality rate in order to rebuild stocks to the biomass targets. Management options include reductions in creel limits, season closures, and combinations of both.

The public meeting will be held 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007, in the Ocean Pines Library, 11107 Cathell Rd, Ocean Pines, MD, 21811. All interested parties are invited to attend and participate. If you have questions about the meeting, contact Mike Luisi, Fisheries Service, Tawes State Office Building, B-2, 580 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401, telephone 410-260-8341 or email mluisi@dnr.state.md.us.
